Bidding (East is dealer):

1S - 2C   - 2D! - Pass

3H - Pass - 4S  - Pass out

West has S-Axx H-Qxx D-A10x C-Q10xxxx

I (North) have S-xx H-xx D-KQJ9875 C-xx

I didn't bid at my first turn because I assumed that RHO had at least5

diamonds, and partner may take my bid as not natural, and I didn't ask

about the bid during the bidding beacause I didn't want to expose any

opponents' misunderstandings nor my hand.

When dummy came down I asked about the 2D bid and dummy said that he

wanted to make a forcing bid.

Declarer made 6 after a club Ace lead.  After the hand I mentioned

that the 2D bid might be a problem in a Sectional, etc, and LHO, who

claimed that she "was in the dark too", called the director to get a

clarification.  The director said the bid was OK since "he had some

diamonds".

After the round I told RHO that he should find some other forcing bid,

like 3C and he said "that's not our system".  When I pointed out that

the next time he made that bid his partner will know he might be short

in the suit.
