Re: Import Calendar from Outlook 2003, or from csv file?

My Outlook 2003 is running under W7 Home Premium: perhaps there is an
incompatibity there. The old Outlook Connector was on the system when it
was upgraded to W7, but as I never knew what to do with it, the button was
not tested. If I can configure WLM to do what I want I will put Outlook in
the loft (just in case!). I still have some problems setting up my email
accounts using Hotmail, but I have raised another query on that matter.
Thank you for all your help.

Thanks, a quick test yielded a successful install on XPSp3/OL03.
Not sure why it wouldn't (install) on your system, but glad to hear you
managed to overcome the hurdle.
Fyi...while WLM provides access to the same Live ID calendar, not all web UI
features (for that Live ID calendar) are present in
WLM (when signed on with the same Live ID to Live services in WLM) and
nowhere near the amount of OL's calendar features are
available in either WLM or the web UI (calendar.live.com).

Apparently version 14.0.

Which version of the Outlook Connector have you installed ?
Have you a link for the version you downloaded ?

I would if I could. Having recently removed the Outlook Connector, I cannot
seem to re-install. I have downloaded the software, which appeared to
install with no problems, but no "Outlook Connector" tab appears on my
Outlook! Tried uninstalling and re-installing to same effect.
I have added my normal email address to Hotmail and can now successfully
interact with WLM (which I now understand is the current name for WLH), and
have imported my contacts from Outlook and cleaned up the results. Now all
I need to be able to do is 'import' my calendar and then I presume I no
longer need Outlook 2003. From your original response it would seem that I
really do need the Outlook Connector. Any ideas?

Fyi...you must use the same Hotmail account Live ID to sign on to Windows
Live services in Windows Live Mail that was setup as the
email account in the the Outlook Connector (in Outlook)
- if not, then nothing will sync down from the web server (i.e. sync only
occurs for the signed on Live ID to/from the web server)
- if desired, you can copy messages to the Hotmail account folders in
Outlook (with the Connector) then sync those messages up to
the server, setup the same Hotmail account using http in WLM then allow
those messages on the server to sync down. Caution...if a
large volume of messages, it may take time to sync up and down since both
locations need to update all databases and indexes and
its important to not interrupt the process (which may corrupt data).

Many thanks. I had Outlook Connector on my 2003 but recently removed it
because I could not figure out what to do with it!
Your message also prompts me to ask for illumination - what is the
difference between Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail?
I am confused!!

I don't believe that there is any option to import calendar data from
anywhere
into Windoows Live Mail.
A woorkaround, assuming that you have Outlook 2003 installed, is to download
and
install the Outlook Connector -
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/microsoft-office-outlook-hotmail-connector-overview-HA010222518.aspx
Set it up to sync with your Hotmail account. Your Calendar is now in Outlook
along with the main calendar for Outlook. You can then drag/drop
appointments
from the main calendar to the Hotmail Calendar in Outlook and these will
sync to
the server. Windows Live Mail will then sync these back down.
Do note that this newsgroup exists only on news servers that do not honor
the
remove group message. It is no longer originated on a Microsoft news server.
