Start and endpoints for text on a path


I am trying to create text on a path.  I have mostly figured out what I need 
to do, but I don't have the start and endpoints as shown in this page (it's 
for illustrator, but they should be there in PS as well):

How do I get those start and endpoints (and the middle thing) to be visible?
