So, if I understand you correctly, you are running 11.10 Oneiric which
doesn't have default gconf-editor, so you installed it from the universe
repository which also required a positive action somewhere, and you then
installed it by using either the software center or synaptic or apt-get
and then you ran the gconf-editor using either the terminal or the Run
function. Or maybe a shortcut shows up somewhere.
Then when you run the gconf-editor you see the several categories in the
left panel which categories include the apps folder/category and you
click the + symbol on the apps group and it opens up.
Then you peruse all of the different names which require using the
slider for the left panel and you recognize that there are many many
scores of both nested and non-nested items in that folder/group/category.
You can pass by the alphabetic order and get all the way down to the 'i'
section and you don't find an item named indicator-session.
Do I have all of that understanding correct? My system calls these items
'keys'
Is there anything significantly different about how you are able to
report what is happening in the gconf-editor than what I have outlined
above?
