11.10 - Unable To Set Up Printer
I just upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10 (32-bit), with GNOME Classic as my
desktop environment. My printer in an HP Officejet 6500.
The printer was working fine with 11.04 but the driver must have been
deleted during the upgrade because right now there is no printer set up.
I go to Applications -> System Tools -> System Settings and select
Printers. Upon selecting the Add New Printer button, I get the following
message:
FirewallD is not running. Network printer detection
needs services mdns, ipp, ipp-client and samba-client
enabled on firewall.
I can find very little information about this "FirewallD" thing online.
Nothing has helped.
In the meantime, I've tried with "ufw", the default firewall in Ubuntu.
I've issued the following commands:
sudo ufw enable
sudo ufw allow mdns
sudo ufw allow ipp
....but I do not know how to turn on "ipp-client" or "samba-client" and
also I am not really sure that "ufw" would solve my problem.
I am not much of an expert with Linux in general and even less with
firewalls! Is there anyone on this group that can help me solve this issue?
Thanks.
