I thought there was a huge announcement that, as of Mint 12, Mint is
now based directly on Debian instead of on Ubuntu. Hence why I said
Mint changed from being an Ubuntu child to being an Ubuntu sibling.
I know that Mint is on a 6 month release cycle, I thought it was
April/October as the release months. I stand corrected on when Mint
actually comes out.
